About the
Author of The Bogota Story, Henry Komorowski
I have been a resident of
Bogota since 1970, when I married Bogota resident Mary Caciopyo. We decided to make Bogota
the home for our family and I began to study its history
In 1984, Mayor Alex Kelemen
asked me to assume the duties of the Bogota Historian. The 100th Anniversary of Bogota was
in 1994 and presented me with a tremendous job. Thankfully, many people volunteered to
help. One project was a history book which was researched and printed for this
anniversary. My topics in this hook the source of the present material.
In 1996, Mayor Steve Lonegan asked me to put together a history for the Internet, This is that history.
My interest in history
started during my childhood in Bayonne. A local historic site, dating from the time of the
Dutch settlers, had just been discovered. It was in the process of being evaluated by
local experts. I had a chance to see the site at that time. The thought of all these
adults getting excited about the distant past made me realize that history is more than
just a chronology of the past. It is the story of people.
I hope you enjoy the History
of Bogota and its people.
