What are the rules concerning Overnight Parking on Borough Streets?

The Overnight Parking Ordinance prohibits vehicles from parking for more than 3 hours between 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM on any street.  The only exception are streets which are posted "Overnight Parking Permitted for Passenger Vehicles Only".  If a resident has visitors and there is no room in the driveway, or is having work done which blocks the driveway, permission to park overnight can be obtained by calling Police Headquarters.  Permission will only be granted as a occasional circumstance, not for extended periods of time.  There will be no permission granted when a snowstorm is expected or is in progress.

Do I have to register my burglar/fire alarm?

YES,
Local Ordinance 941 requires that all alarms (burglar/fire) that will initiate a response from an emergency service (police/fire/ambulance) must be registered with the Bogota Police Department. This registration is for a period of one year, renewable every January. The current permit fee is $10.00. Permit application can be obtained from the Records Bureau during normal business hours. Failure to register your alarm may result in summonses being issued. In addition, a summons may be issued for each unsubstantiated alarm responded starting with the fifth response. Fines range from $25 to $100 per summons plus cost of court.

Can I obtain a Bogota Police Department uniform shoulder patch?

With the advent of the Internet, we receive numerous requests for patches from collector's all over the world on a daily basis. We would like to fulfill each and every request, however, due to the cost and the time required we can not supply patches to individuals and collectors. Official agency requests should be sent on departmental letterhead from the agency head to the Bogota Chief of Police. Patches will only be sent to the official department mailing address.
